WASTE & RECYCLING ADVENTURE CENTER

Our 7,000-square-foot Waste & Recycling Adventure Center offers an immersive, hands-on experience designed to bring recycling and waste management to life. Featuring 20 interactive activities, the space allows students, community groups, and residents to explore how materials are sorted, processed, and reused.

Visitors can engage with exhibits that highlight our locations and services across Baldwin County, while also viewing the Green Machine in action from a dedicated observation area. Originally designed to support 5th through 10th grade learning standards, the center is accessible, engaging, and educational for visitors of all ages.

Introducing the Waste and Recycling Mobile Adventure

Our new Waste and Recycling Mobile Adventure is a traveling learning experience bringing hands‑on environmental education directly to communities across Baldwin County. The mobile adventure supports school programs, community events, and public outreach by taking the learning on the road and meeting people where they are.Inside the trailer, guests will find various interactive exhibits explaining how waste is managed, how recycling works, and how everyday actions contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment.

The Official SWDA Mascot

Salty is a fun and familiar face you will spot throughout our facilities and materials. As our official mascot, Salty represents our commitment to protecting Baldwin County’s environment and making recycling education engaging for all ages.

When you visit our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), be sure to keep an eye out. Salty is hidden throughout the Education Center in a unique, interactive experience designed for visitors.

Each appearance is tucked into artwork and displays across the space, encouraging you to explore, learn, and take a closer look at how recycling works in our community. It is a great activity for students, families, and anyone who enjoys a challenge while discovering something new.
