BAY MINETTE TRANSFER STATION

TRANSFER STATION

At SWDA, we serve Baldwin County residents by operating the Bay Minette Transfer Station as a well-managed facility designed to handle waste safely and efficiently. The facility operates in full compliance with Alabama Department of Public Health regulations, with a certified transfer station operator on site at all times during public hours.

The site is permitted to handle an average of up to 200 tons of material per day. On a typical day, we assist approximately 50 customers while processing more than 125 tons of waste. Through these efforts, we ensure materials are managed responsibly while protecting our environment and the communities we serve.

ONGOING IMPROVEMENTS

Several upgrades are underway to enhance efficiency and support the county’s continued growth. These improvements include adding a second scale to reduce wait times and improve traffic flow, as well as constructing a new building to allow waste and recyclables to be loaded more efficiently into transfer trucks. Together, these upgrades will improve material management, create a smoother and more convenient experience for residents, and further support services for the north end of the county.

We are also expanding opportunities for residents to recycle more and waste less. A new CHaRM (Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials) will be located at the Bay Minette Transfer Station, providing a convenient option for residents in North Baldwin County.

This facility will allow residents to properly dispose of items that cannot be placed in regular garbage or curbside recycling. By offering this service, we continue to support responsible waste management and our commitment to protecting the environment.
